Our latest project completes, a disabled and elderly friendly garden.

June- September 2013.

Our elderly customer contacted us earlier this year because he longed for a new garden. A new garden that could be accessed and viewed from a wheelchair, and a beautiful place for he and his wife to enjoy together. A garden to reminisce in whilst also to appreciate the moment in.

Our project brief was to design a new garden within the existing much loved but tired space. The customer longed to have easier access to the garden again, and for his wife who visits the house and garden with a nurse to be able to enjoy the garden from her wheel chair.

The design incorporated a pergola seating area and bench with broad and generous sized pathways. A new pond and naturalistic waterfall feature, new lawns and lots of wonderful planting to complement the existing maturer trees and shrubs. Many of the plants were chosen to enhance the memories, and indeed there are lots of old favourites in the borders. Seasonal interest was considered to encourage use of the garden through out the year, including planting spring flowering bulbs in the lawn under the apple tree.

A new fence ensures security and a sense of safety, and a secret gate was included to allow easier access for the customers’ carer to come in.

We are very pleased to have been asked to help with the ongoing garden maintenance, and we will be putting our organic methodology in to practice, ensuring the garden is well kept, cared for and healthy. We look forward to producing some home made compost in the new timber bins that we constructed.
