Warren visits Hampton Court Flower Show

Last week saw the annual Hampton Court Flower Show. We sent Warren along to see what was going on, and to bring back some fresh inspiration!

He wrote about his day

With the island gardens in mind our visit to Hampton Court 2011 proved to be an inspiration. Chris Beardshaw’s garden, ‘The Stockman’s Retreat’ was packed full of plants in a very naturalistic style and set an evocative rural scene around a pond. Similarly the ‘World Vision Garden’ used a very natural feel for their planting scheme. This garden however was segmented by what looked like giant slabs of concrete that appeared to have been removed from the Berlin wall, giving an urban feel.
A plant that seemed to be repeated through a lot of the gardens at Hampton this year was Ammi majus.  Its white colour meaning it could combine favourably with almost any combination of plants. We plan to use this on the island too!
